Something that nobody has ever expected became reality today. Instead of banning multiplayer mods Rockstar Games decide to cooperate with creators. Team Cfx.re, which is behind the platforms for FiveM and RedM is now officially part of Rockstar Games.

Nothing probably changes for FiveM and RedM, both until now unofficial, starting today official, modifications will work like they did until today's acquisition. Rockstar Games promises to work together with Cfx.re developers to improve both multiplayer mods to even enhance the gaming experience for the players.

It's because Rockstar knew FiveM Ragemp and cfx.re teams individual developers will beat GTA 6 with GTA V when it comes out. Thats why they decided to buy those individual developer teams to let GTA 6 survive the come out lol. And ofcourse as you see they will add all features into GTA 6 from all FiveM RageMP and so on to beat GTA V. That was the plan. Because Rockstar knew they will have to pay a lot more if they add into GTA 6 these all fivem features now, now they can with out penalties from those cfx.re and more individual developers and their teams. Lets see where it goes.

I am not sure if this is a good news or not.
The good news is the servers are probably going to be in a better condition now.
The bad news is, you know what Rockstar are nowadays.

Relax people, if Rockstar would shut it down they wouldn`t have announced anything, they would keep everything secret.. Besides, I doubt they`d want the backlash. The worst thing they can do is monetize the servers with Shark Cards or lock it behind a subscription service like GTA+, but that`s it.

Knowing that rockstar likes to milk GTA for money i don’t think this is a good idea. But you never know not keeping my hopes up or anything.

Also, it will not surprise me that Rockstar will apply rules like blacklisting servers from the masterlist if they have custom content that can be DMCA claimed
That's already a thing I believe, it's still a good thing though, your server assets are protected.

I doubt rockstar would close it, they tried the same thing with openiv and got a lot of backlash so they just left it.

I'm not so sure if this is very good news. Everyone probably thinks that Rockstar is going to help develop FiveM further. But this will be the opposite. The FiveM team will help to develop Rockstar. I personally think they bought FiveM because they know that FiveM servers are more popular than the Rockstar Servers themselves, and that every Streamer streams FiveM instead of GTA Online. When a large company buys a fan-made mod, it can always go 2 ways. 1: They close it. Or 2: They will try to make as much money as possible and limit many things. I wouldn't be surprised if we as players have to pay a monthly fee to play FiveM, or if Server Owners have to buy a license to have a server. Also, it will not surprise me that Rockstar will apply rules like blacklisting servers from the masterlist if they have custom content that can be DMCA claimed. Like Minecraft did with the EULA. It all sounds very positive, but wait until the corporate guys come in.
